Ages 8-13
In this session we will explore the spirit of the outdoors through challenging activities designed for older ages (8+). Children will make a nature journal and spend some time each day sitting in nature. These journals will be used to log both their experience and their findings. Each day they will learn different nature skills: animal and bird identification, plant and flower knowledge, safety and survival skills. At the end of this session each child will be given the opportunity to complete a Solo-sit, for up to 1 hour. On our trip days we hope to adventure out on several full day hikes, summiting local peaks, exploring scenic lakes and rivers, and discovering secret waterfalls. We will document our experiences in our own handmade nature journals. This session will also include a day of canoe adventuring!
This session will have 3 or 4 trip days each week. We set the schedule based on weather and send out an email on with the tentative schedule on Sunday. We then send a confirmation email out each evening by 7pm confirming our location for the next day. Caregivers drop off/pick up at Camp Base (Mt. Toby Meetinghouse) on base days.
